Black Lives Matter: Statement of support from Nottinghamshire Hospice Board of Trustees
At Nottinghamshire Hospice we believe that everyone has the right to a good death and we recognise that the health inequalities we see in our work have been all too visible in the impact that Covid 19 is having on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities across our city and county.
Recognition means nothing without action, and we are working with our BAME colleagues and partners to ensure that risk is recognised and support is in place and to find ways to build trust and confidence with BAME communities who do not currently receive Hospice Care and are not represented within our patient, carer, staff or volunteer groups. We will work to ensure that individually and together we are strong and confident to challenge racism wherever we find it.
I am sure there are more eloquent words than those above, but the best have already been spoken:
Black Lives Matter.
We, at Nottinghamshire Hospice, will not tolerate racism and will challenge it in any form we encounter it.
‘Anti-racism is the commitment to fight racism wherever you find it, including in yourself. And it’s the only way forward’ Ijeoma Oluo.
