Meet and Greet Volunteer
The Meet and Greet Volunteer role ensures that patients and visitors have a warm and friendly welcome when they come to Nottinghamshire Hospice. The role involves greeting visitors, notifying staff members that a client has arrived and escorting people to the necessary places in the hospice. It is a quiet role as visitors can be infrequent so would therefore suit a friendly person, who is content with sitting in a calm and caring environment for periods of time.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide a warm and friendly welcome as patients and visitors arrive in the hospice foyer
- Answer the doorbell
- Ensure all visitors are signed in and out of the building
- Inform the appropriate staff and volunteers when visitors arrive
- Make patients/visitors feel comfortable by talking to them and making a drink when necessary
- Take visitors to the respective staff member or room
- Occasionally, complete simple admin tasks that can be done in the foyer
This role is based at Nottinghamshire Hospice – 384 Woodborough Road, Nottingham, NG3 4JF
Monday to Friday – availability to be discussed at interview
Who we’re looking for
You’ll need to:
- Have a friendly & cheerful personality
- Feel confident in dealing with members of the public
- Have good communication skills
- Be sensitive and caring
- Be content with sitting for periods of time with minimal interaction or activity
- Use initiative
- Be discreet and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Be mobile and confident using stairs as we are based in an historical building without a lift
What you’ll get out of it
All hospice volunteers are required to:
- Complete all relevant online training courses for the role at the start of the induction
- Have guidance in the form of a Welcome Induction from Volunteer Services
- Have a department induction with their Allocated Manager
- Complete a personal Wellbeing Assessment
- Receive ongoing support from their Allocated Manager and Volunteer Services

As part of the application process, you will be required to:
- Complete an application form
- Provide details of 2 referees. Both referees must have known you for at least 2 years and be over 18 years old
- Attend an informal interview
- Undergo a DBS Check (We will cover the cost)
